Some metaphors aren't
many truisms are
most verities aren't
while cliches really are.

I can't predict
or even project
the average event
or traumas prevent.

Where i almost impact
or at least mitigate
fate's buffeting smack
is to anticipate.

To judge in advance
can help, or can hinder
as it leads us to chance
stereotyping, to wear blinders.

Most assumptions are false
few exceptions are true
we see the miscues in others
but not me and you.
